What a way to wake up… To David's chatter.

Sometimes, I kinda wanted to throttle him for waking me up all the time. And of course, it was the one time I was sleeping without nightmares.

"Poison told him she was unobtainable," I heard him giggling and couldn't help but smile sleepily. "She kept threatening him. And she said something about getting a tattoo. I want one too!"

Wait, who the hell is he talking to? I sat up. It was probably grace, but he was using my transmitter again. Blast.

"Heh, maybe when you're a little older...then you can get a tattoo." I must still be dreaming…. "Maybe I'll get another one with you." I heard Havok, and he sounded like he was smiling. "I have wings tattooed on my back. Kinda like yours, except they're black."

I stumbled out of my room, blinking in the light. Darn, I was still so tired…. Of course, David kept babbling, "Can I see? Did it hurt?"

"It hurt a little, but not too much," Davey's voice murmured. I heard cloth rustling as I rounded the corner.

"David, I told you – Oh" There he stood, his back toward me, showing off an impressive set of angel wings tattooed on his back. "Hi Davey..." I felt the heat rising to my cheek as I tried to find my voice. "N-nice tat..."

I couldn't help but notice he looked as red as me. "Umm...heh...thanks."

I wanted to touch them, I really did, but when I saw my hand reaching out, I snatched it back. "Welcome home..." I mumbled. "Right... I'll make you some coffee or something..." I left the room as quickly as I could.

As I made my way to the kitchen, feeling more awake than ever before, I heard Davey chuckle awkwardly. "I've been told too many tats can make one seem intimidating...." Dang, his voice was cuter than anyone's voice had the right to be. Stop that Sam! Get over yourself!

My blushing got worse as I heard David snicker and whisper "I think she liked them." I groaned, then scolded myself. "Sam, snap out of it! It's not like he's the first guy you've seen shirtless..."

But definitely the cutest. Stupid brain.

I felt the hair rise on the back of my neck as Davey chuckled. "Really?" he asked, and it sounded like he was right behind me. I whirled around to see him languishing against the doorframe.

"Whoops... Weren't supposed to hear that... But I'm a medic, so of course not..."

"It's alright, Sam" he moved in closer to me. "I know I have an amazing set of abs. You don't have to feel embarrassed." He winked and my heart skipped a beat. A wave of something passed over me. I don't know what I was thinking when I said this, but I determined not to regret it.

"Ok. Do-Do you mind if I… touch them?"

He smiled reassuringly. "Not a bit." He pulled his shirt off and stood before me, arms and chest covered in tattoos.

Hesitantly, I ran my hands over his abs and up to his shoulders. "You're pretty ripped..." I observed stupidly. "And that's a lot of ink... Wow..." I pulled away, blushing worse than before.

He must have taken it as a compliment, judging by his grin. "Thanks, Sam."

"No problem," I whispered, still blushing.

He considered my red face quietly, then he smiled. "If you ever wanted to get a tat, I'd get a matching one with you," he offered.

I took his hands and examined his inked-up wrists. "Frankly, m'dear," I chuckled softly, "you don't have any room where I'm getting mine."

He considered it for a moment, then nodded. "Hmm...good point. I'll just get it elsewhere, then."

I kept laughing quietly to myself. "Well, I have two planned. But the second one is kinda girly..."

He looked up in interest. "What are they?"

"Well, I was thinking..." I drawled a bit. "A henna design around my wrist, like a bracelet..." I absently traced his wrist with my fingertips, "and a winged heart with a dagger behind it on my hipbone..." I looked up and smiled. "That's the really girly one."

He grinned back at me and shrugged. "I think I'm fabulous enough to pull it off."

I smiled and found myself agreeing. "It's not like anyone would see it anyway," I reasoned to myself.

"And I think it would be a pretty awesome tat...." He brushed my hair back away from my face. I bit back a shiver from feeling him so close to me. Good Lord I had missed him so much. I looked away for a moment.

"Well, it's up to you... I'm not sure if I'm gonna get the hip one... It's that Rainbow Dispenser guy who said he could do it..." I felt my face contort remembering how he flirted shamelessly.

"...that fucker's sick," Davey said in a low growl. "He called me babydoll." There was an awkward silence for a moment. "I'm sure we can find a tattoo parlor somewhere, though," he said softly.

"Eww..." I grimaced. "I'll go kill him for you. No one takes my Davey." Wanting to tease him, I hugged him possessively and laughed. I felt the cool of his skin, well, cool in relation to mine, as I rested my head against him. He grinned and hugged me back, thanking me for some reason. I looked up and smiled.

"So do you want me to?" I asked, half serious. Then I smacked myself in the forehead. "Oh! Stef can do the tat! He's got tons of contraband crap! Why didn't I think of that?"

"Steph?" Davey sounded utterly confused.

"Someone I met in the city," I explained. "He throws parties at night, with loads of color and contraband and all sorts of stuff... Glitter everywhere. I met him while looking for a - Oh right, you haven't seen it yet... Wait five minutes, I'll be right back."

I rushed off to the back room, barely hearing Davey's confused "Okay...?"

I came back in after a few minutes with my hair down, makeup on, and a nice dress. I blushed as he gaped at me. "Surprise... You like?" I asked softly.

"You look stunning" he murmured, stepping closer to me.

"I'm glad you like it," I blushed. "I only got to do this once as a kid... I thought you'd like to see me looking beautiful..." I trailed off as he touched my cheek.

"You always look beautiful, Sam." He smiled fondly at me and I couldn't help but smile back.

"Well, I guess I wanted to look extra special," I blushed again as he kept smiling at me, playing with a strand of my hair.

"You certainly do." He slipped a hand around my waist and I put a hand against his bare chest. Sadly, I remembered he'd been traveling and was probably weary.

"I guess I should let you get some sleep now..." I whispered, before standing on my tiptoes to kiss his cheek, right next to the corner of his mouth. "Love you, sweet."

"Love you too, darling."
(The rest is in a set of journal comments, I was just too lazy to write it all out xD)
